This is arguably one of the most important classes in the session especially for those under the impression that red wines taste like red wines and whites taste like whites. Svetlana Yanushkevich will teach you how to discern different smells and flavors in wines. Extreme examples of a smoky wine, a fruity wine, a floral wine, a wine aged in American oak, and a wine aged in French oak will be selected. Learning the language of wine will help you to communicate your own perceptions of wine, share your perceptions with other tasters, make you more comfortable ordering wines, and effectively communicate with your sommelier at the restaurant. She will also discuss why to decant a wine, and the importance of how to serve it as well (namely at what temperature, and in what style of glass). All 6 wines will be served blind.
