About Us
The Wine Steward was established in October 2006 by Rocco Gervino, a descendent of an Italian wine-making family. After a successful and lengthy career as a corporate executive, Rocco decided to pursue his dream of opening a specialty wine and food store. New construction allowed him to work with the developers to build the store to his exacting standards. The Hampstead Commons, a charming new shopping plaza off Rte. 111, now provides the home for The Wine Steward, and the store is quickly becoming established as a favorite in Southern New Hampshire.
Rocco is a member of Le Chevalier du Grand Vin and has studied artisan cheeses at Boston University’s culinary arts school and under Ihsan Gurdal -- one of the country’s leading authorities -- from the Formaggio Kitchen in Boston’s South End. Rocco’s reputation has grown rapidly, as customers have come to appreciate his high quality standards, impeccable taste, and extraordinary customer service. He has taken care to hire staff that demonstrates these same qualities, resulting in a pleasant shopping experience for all who visit.
